Joe Satriani Lancaster Concert reviews
We should all hope to age as well as Roger Daltrey
It was a bit of a great bag. Generally cool set list. The way it was used in the show worked well, and it's cool they used local orchestra musicians for accompaniment. Generally excellent individual performances as one expects from a group of hired guns.
I was especially blown away by how disappointing Roger sounds at the ripe old age of 78. He may not sound exactly the way you remember but he still moves around the stage with the same energy. Really, really good.
The acoustics of the venue was awful. It was disappointing given that we were on the floor in what should have been a prime location. Joe Satriani's guitar was pretty low most of the night. Maybe that was done to mask sloppy playing, but generally disappointing if you're a fan of Joe Satriani's playing. It was a little better during a few of the guitar-heavy tracks. Eminence Front without being able to hear Joe Satriani's soloing was especially Joe Satriani's stage patter was typical Joe Satriani. He got mildly annoyed when the audience failed to hear Joe Satriani's soloing. Anyone who has been a fan for long would have found it endearing.
Despite a few endearing disappointments, it was a satisfying show. I wouldn't spend big money for tickets, but attendance was pretty low and there were plenty of decent seats available at a discount the day of the show.
